Skadi Lodge

Kolari, Finland

Skadi Lodge is a modern, welcoming home in Ylläsjärvi, completed in 2025. Set close to the village centre and Ylläs’ ski lifts and trails, it offers a comfortable base for families and groups to enjoy Lapland’s outdoor life in every season.

The house combines practical design with warm, natural materials across its two floors. Large windows bring in light and views of the surrounding landscape, while the fireplace and underfloor heating create a steady sense of comfort. The spacious layout offers both shared areas for gathering and quiet corners for rest, making it easy to settle in for short visits or longer stays.

After spending time outdoors, guests can relax in the electric sauna and enjoy the calm atmosphere indoors. In winter, Ylläsjärvi’s ski slopes and Finland’s longest network of cross-country trails are close by. In summer, the same terrain turns into a playground for hiking and mountain biking, with long daylight hours and open views over the fells.

Skadi Lodge brings together modern comfort, functionality, and a location surrounded by Lapland’s nature, a practical and thoughtful setting for time spent in Ylläsjärvi year-round.

Location

Ylläsjärvi

Located in Ylläsjärvi — one of two distinct Lapland villages at the base of Yllästunturi Fell — Skadi Lodge sits amid one of Finland’s most celebrated year‑round nature destinations.

Ylläs is known for its beautiful landscapes, from the seven fells that define the region to forests and crystal-clear air, often cited as among the cleanest in the world.

In winter, Ylläs offers Finland’s largest ski resort, with 330 km of cross‑country tracks (38 km lit), 61 alpine slopes, and 29 lifts. In summer and autumn, the area transforms into the base for hikers, mountain bikers, and foragers for berries and mushrooms, with endless trails winding through fells and forest.

From The Owner

The Story of Skadi Lodge wasn´t born in Ylläs, but surprisingly in Levi.

For over thirty years, the family behind Skadi Lodge had been spending winter holidays in Ylläs, renting cabins or staying with friends. It became an important tradition. Then came the year they were too late to book: no spacious, pet-friendly places were left. Ylläs was fully sold out. The family ended up spending the holiday in Levi. As lovely as it was, Ylläs still was the place they wished to go back to. What began as a joke in the sauna turned into repeated dinner conversations, and eventually into a plan, and finally, Skadi Lodge.

The goal wasn’t just to build a villa, but to create a space that reflected what mattered most: easy access to nature, a location made for outdoor activities, space for children and pets, and the kind of comfort that makes a holiday feel just right. A place where life could unfold: sometimes loud, sometimes calm, always meaningful.

Skadi Lodge was built with this in mind. A space to feel welcomed, to relax, and to make memories that last long after the snow melts.
