Villa Housu
Kolari, FinlandHousu is a modern, architect-designed home in Äkäslompolo near Ylläs Ski Resort, completed in 2023 in collaboration with architect Otso Virtanen and interior designers Fyra. Designed with attention to detail, the house combines high-quality materials, thoughtful craftsmanship, and a close relationship with its surroundings.
Finnish spruce defines the interior, bringing warmth and harmony to the open spaces. Large windows fill the rooms with light and open views toward the surrounding landscape. The layout connects cooking, dining, and shared moments around the fireplace, while quiet corners and carefully furnished bedrooms offer privacy and rest.
After time spent outdoors, guests can enjoy the electric sauna or take a moment in the jacuzzi on the terrace, where the scenery shifts gently with the seasons. Modern comforts such as underfloor heating and an air-source heat pump ensure an easy stay year-round.
With ski trails, hiking paths, and Pallas–Yllästunturi National Park close by, Housu offers a well-balanced setting for families and groups who value design, comfort, and direct access to Lapland’s nature.

Äkäslompolo is a village in Finnish Lapland where everyday life meets the outdoors. Set at the base of Ylläs, Finland’s largest ski resort, it offers alpine slopes, one of the country’s widest cross-country trail networks, and year-round access to untouched wilderness.
The contrasts of Lapland are strongly felt here: winter brings deep snow, northern lights, and opportunities for skiing and snowshoeing, while summer opens the forests and fells for hiking, cycling, fishing, and berry picking. Just two kilometres away begins Pallas–Yllästunturi National Park, with marked trails through old-growth forest and fell terrain.
Despite its natural setting, Äkäslompolo has a lively village centre with shops, cafés, restaurants, and services, making it easy to balance everyday comforts with access to Lapland’s landscapes. It remains a place where community and wilderness meet at the edge of the fells.
